This is out all over the net but yesterday Sony Japan put up a downloadable Japanese demo of our game from the official game site. It requires the latest 2.70 version of the PSP firmware which you can download from your respective PSP sites. (USA, Japan, Europe) Simple English instructions for installing it are here.
Note: I’m only reporting info that is publicly available. I am unfortunately not officially speaking for Sony here but I wanted to get the word out a demo is available. I hope you enjoy it
“I hope you enjoy it”.
Well, saying that I enjoy it would be rather an understatement. ”Absolutely goddamn crazy about it” is more like it.
Judging from the demo this will be the first real must-have for the PSP. An absolutely perfect mix of gameplay, graphics, music and cuteness.
Respect!
But I can’t play it due to the nonsensical version restrictions.
I was excited to see a demo was released, but now I’m dissapointed that I can’t play it =(
I know there’s nothing you can do about it, Gregg, but smack a Sony higher-up for me next time you see one. Asshole deserves it.
Damn Gregg, you’ve got a hit on your hands. I first got to play the game when I dropped by the PlayStation Spot at the Sony Building when I passed through Tokyo in January…and I didn’t boot up another until I finished the demo with a perfect score.
I’m so glad I bought a second PSP…I didn’t even hesitate when the 2.70 firmware came out and went straight for the downloadable demo. I was even more excited when I realized this was a totally different level! I’m up to 19/20, 539/541, and 3/3…and I didn’t lose one, so I must be missing another hidden area.
And, rest assured, I’m not alone in my enthusiasm for the game…
Okay, I can’t find the last little bugger, but I get perfect everywhere else. Where’s he hiding?
I downloaded the demo and all the things you said about how different the game is came to life.I play on the Subway constantly. How many time can you play one level and still love a game? I wanted to know what the color differences in the Loco Rocos represent?I see the Japanese webpage has descriptions for each color.
I got it! My life is complete…until the full game comes out….
Okay, here’s a possible translation of the colors from the Japanese website:
That translation did help. Will we be mixing Loco types one one level? If one Loco Roco does not like the other will you have to trick it to merge?
Will we switch Loco Roco types on each level?I can see switching, exaple Blue Lazy Loco Roco can’t jump as high so some parts of the level are not for them. While Red is fast so can jump higher.
I SOOOOOO wish this was out for the DS. Waiting for the DS Lite and don’t really want a PSP. Oh well, I guess I’m SOL.
Been playing this demo on a friend’s PSP during school. It’s phenomenal… reminds me of M.C Kids (MC Kids being my favorite game ever).
My favorite touch is the “screaming” the locos do when being pulled back into one blob. Their casual “ahhh!”’s make me smile every time. Also enjoyed figuring out how the Moon works and listening to them sing to the moon. It took me a solid 20 minutes to beat the level the first time – I hope all the levels are this long in the final. The “stomping” enemy that breaks you apart when it steps on you was another thing that made me laugh.
The music! I could listen to the one track in the demo for hours! I don’t know if you were planning to, but please don’t change it when you localize!
I’ve got a tough choice coming up… Do I buy another PSP or upgrade my current one so I can play this game?
You’re my hero, Greggman. I look forward to seeing your name in the credits =)
* Goes off to Lik-Sang to preorder
